I started out my journey of becoming a journalist/reporter when I was a sophomore in high school. I knew that I wanted to share stories which had meaning and deserved the proper attention. However, this wasn't always my passion, simply because I was afraid to speak. Therefore, I was always writing. I could remember bringing a notebook and pen everywhere I went, as a little girl. I would document anything from, what I was doing to where I was going-- a true journalist at heart. Because I was timid this was my outlet; my freedom to document anything I desired.
As a journalist I am not the creator of a story, rather the microphone which amplifies those whose story is worthy of being covered through whatever stage, network, field, or court I can share it on. Growing up, writing was my talent and story telling has become my passion. As I share my own story, my goal as an aspiring Broadcast Journalist is to reveal the authenticity of what makes humans, human. I am not only a journalist or reporter, but also a poet with goals of being able to showcase the shininess which makes us all authentic jewelry--where being seen can mean the same thing as being heard.
Combining my love of writing, story telling, competition, and sports I am certain that befitting the role of a sports journalist would guarantee a career and not just a job. I've realized that the very things we fear sometimes, in life, end up being our greatest passions-- things we grow to love. Although I no longer play sports, I still get that same rush from watching and documenting. In essence, I'm always ready to tackle or slam dunk a good story!
